Tempur was the first manufacturer to introduce it's revolutionary memory foam mattresses and beds and remains the number one brand in the UK.

The Tempur beds and mattresses were originally launched in 1991 with the intention being to relieve and pprevent bed sores in medical situations.

During development and more than 5,000 documented rials, it was dicovered that the memory foam was beneficial for rheumatic problems.

The company took the products to Sweden and trials with Swdish back specialist confirmed that the memory foam bed was helpful in relieving back pain.

As more than 50% of all people suffer from some kind of back problem, the product caused an instant sensation when it was launched and became an instant success.

The Tempur memory foam bed and mattress range is now available in more than 50 countries and sets a world standard for healthy sleep and pressure relief.

The product development came about, like so many products, through NASA's space programme research. In 1998, Tempur was awarded a prestigious NASA award "in recognition of their contributions to transferring aeronautical and space research technology ito the private sector to save lives, promote economic opportunity and help improve the quality of life for humankind". No small achievement!

Tempur offers a good range of memory foam beds including stylish divans, offering additional storage for bedrooms with limited space, beech finished slatted and a choice of classic looking adjustable beds. All come in a range of sizes from single beds upwards.

Tempur Memory Foam Mattresses

Although not really recommended, you can simply buy a memory foam mattress if your budget doesn't stretch to a whole new bed. Unlike a conventional sprung mattress, a memory foam mattress will not need to be tuned regularly and of course, being memory foam, it will always keep it's shape! There is a memory foam mattress available for all sizes of bed and you can even buy a Tempur travel mattress to overlay on another bed.
